If you want stronger relative pitch, isolated drills only get you so far. The fastest progress usually comes from hearing intervals inside real melodies, bass lines, and hooks—then checking your guess. That is exactly what our interval ear-training playlist series is built for: curated song examples where a specific interval appears in a memorable moment.

This page is your pillar guide. Use it to pick an interval, open its dedicated playlist article, and train with music you already know. Each linked post includes recognition tips and song breakdowns so you can spot the interval on purpose—not by accident.

    How to use these playlists

    1. Pick one interval (for example minor third or perfect fifth) and stay with it for a few sessions.
    2. Read the interval article below, then open the matching playlist post and listen actively for ascending melodic moments first.
    3. Sing or hum the two notes after each example, then confirm in the post breakdown.
    4. Rotate intervals every 2–3 days so your ear keeps contrast (major vs minor, second vs third, etc.).
    5. Finish in the Sonid app with short daily drills to lock recognition under time pressure.

    Suggested study order for beginners

You do not need to follow semitone order on day one. This sequence builds contrast quickly:

    1. Perfect fifth (P5) and perfect fourth (P4) — strong, stable landmarks.
    2. Minor third (m3) vs major third (M3) — core major/minor color.
    3. Minor second (m2) vs major second (M2) — stepwise motion clarity.
    4. Minor seventh (m7) and major seventh (M7) — tension and leading-tone color.
    5. Minor sixth (m6) and major sixth (M6) — lyrical, expressive contrasts.
    6. Perfect octave (P8) and perfect unison (P1) — register and doubling awareness.
